Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox Is A Hit.

Film: Fantastic Mr. Fox
Directed By: Wes Anderson
Starring: George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Wes Anderson, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson, and Willem Dafoe.

Key Details: Wes Anderson shares with us his vision of Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name in stop motion animation. Released in 2009 production for the film began in 2007. The film would go on to win a number of awards for the efforts on this film.

Ratings: IMDB: 7.9/10 Rotten Tomatoes:92%  Metacritic: 83%  Google Users: 91%

My Rating: 4.5/5, This film brings all the fun you can imagine to the screen. The cast makes us all smile while we are wondering what is happening next. The artists who created the film have done an extraordinary job of bringing this stop motion film to life.

Summary in a Tweet: Domestic bliss sometimes needs a little adventure to spice things up. Boggis, Bunce, and Bean don’t know what’s coming when Mr. Fox and friends arrive on the scene.

Simple Overview: Based on Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox novel Wes Anderson takes us on his interpretation of the story. A Beautiful film indeed! Watch this, yeah, I’m cussing at you.

Have I watched this before?: Oh yeah, Thanks Carl for introducing me all those years ago!

What Could Have Been Better: Not sure. I can’t think of anything that needed to be changed in this film. Just more cussing maybe haha

What I loved and final thoughts:

What’s always kept me coming back to this film is just how fun it is. Watching it this time was no different, we set up a projector in our yard and felt as if we were out there with Fox and his friends. Here’s what I enjoyed about this film broken down into three simple sections:

The Cast: George Clooney and Meryl Streep give stand out performances as the Fox couple with their well-delivered lines and fresh banter. The entire ensemble works well together and brings the great Wes Anderson vibe in the films we’ve come to love. Despite this being a stop motion film, each actor delivers a performance worthy of the big screen and that made the film beautiful. My favorites were Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwartzman.

The Design: This film has so many details just hidden in plain view due to the meticulous attention to detail by Anderson and his team. Just visiting the homes of Fox and Badger then seeing the factories of Boggis, Bunce, and Bean highlights a small part of the detail in this film.

Each of the animals is built beautifully with attention to the detail with their faces and bodies as they move. Even though they’re all wild animals there isn’t a hair out of place. It makes for a beautiful film.

The Storytelling: Anderson brought life to a fun book. He helped us see what we’ve imagined in Mr. Fox and his friends. I loved the storytelling in this film. The simple additions Anderson made to the dialogue and film made for a masterpiece indeed.
Fantastic Mr. Fox was a great film to end this challenge on. It was light and funny but had a beautiful craft behind it that made the film a must-watch. Be ready for a stop motion adventure like no other while enjoying Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox.
